Our Mission is Simple

To assist ISDs whose administration is overburdened with responsibilities and have a limited number of staff. Many ISDs have difficulty assigning and evaluating security technology priorities as the staff required for such evaluations wear many hats and whose day job already bleeds over to their personal time.

The IT director and team are typically highly consumed with ensuring the students and staff are operational for curriculum studies. The maintenance and facility staff are busy keeping security repairs up to date on the campus and may not prefer to engage with the technology side. The newly assigned Security Director and SROs may not be comfortable doing technology assessments.

Here at ElkinsCSC we focus on addressing the needs that are often in silos and require multiple stakeholders' buy-in. We are vendor and manufacturer agnostic; providing an open assessment and consulting view to the ISDs needs; often complimentary.

Why We Serve Rural Communities

Our society is not improving in our ability to protect our children. Many of the large ISDs have significant staff and administration assistance to work through the details of a thorough safety and security plan for their campuses. The reality for small schools of less than 20,000 students requires the same safety and security needs as the mega campuses, yet with a fraction of the staff.

The TEA safety recommendations don't change for campus size; nor does the existence of threats. To amplify this point, recent school shooting statistics show that rural ISDs are affected more frequently with mass casualties than urban locations due to the lack of mental and behavioral health services. Not only does the mental and behavioral health deficiency lead to threats on other's safety; it causes suicide rates to almost double than urban areas. Common sense would suggest that rural ISDs get more funding and staff for their security posture; however this is not the case. For this reason, we at ElkinsCSC are compelled to serve rural ISDs, as all children are equally valuable regardless of their campus or community size.

Founder Statement

I'm a proud alum of Frankston ISD, where I shared a graduating class with 46 students in 1990. I went on to graduate from Texas A&M with a Bachelors and University of Texas with an MBA. I enjoyed 30 years in corporate IT, traveling to over 50 countries yet lacked the fulfilment of public service.

My mission is to support small and rural ISDs through my background in technology and vast contacts of those in the industry who are experts in their respective security fields.
